MINES and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe has urged Chinese investors to partner with the government in carrying out mineral exploration in the country.
Mr Kabuswe said there is need to explore and map areas which are endowed with minerals.
He noted that despite the country being endowed with numerous minerals, Zambia has no map showing areas that have mineral deposits.
Mr Kabuswe pointed out that conducting mineral exploration is a costly venture hence the need for partnership to do the exercise.
He said mapping areas that have minerals will help Government know the types of minerals available in different parts of the country.
“Help us to carry out mineral exploration so that we come up with a map of minerals. As for now we do not have a map of minerals,” he said.
Mr. Kabuswe was speaking during a parallel session at the ongoing China-Zambia Trade and Investment Forum in Lusaka.
He also urged would-be Chinese investors to take advantage of the peace and stability that the country has continued to enjoy for more than 57 years.
He said the government is working towards creating an enabling environment suitable for investment.
Mr Kabuswe also said the desire of President Hakainde Hichilema was to create an economy which is predictable. ZANIS.
