UNDER-18 league side Collins Mbesuma Academy coach Pasmol Kangwa has hailed his charges for putting up a spirited fight to eliminatd legendary side Ndola United from the Gal Sport Betting (GSB) Cup following a 4-3 penalty shootout victory last weekend.

Collins Mbesuma Academy held Ndola United to a goalless draw before beating them on post-match penalties.

The Academy converted four of its sport kicks, one better than Ndola United who missed two in the Championship organised by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Copperbelt Provincial Administration

The victory cheered Kangwa who praised his boys for playing to instructions to beat Ndola who were deemed as the favourites.

Meanwhile, GSB Cup was characterised with upsets on Saturday when Division Three side Nkumbu FC knocked out Division Two outfit Scaw Rangers and Division One side Young Nchanga Rangers lost to Antelope Milling from Division Three.

Jacob Botolo gave Scaw the lead in the eighth minute but that only lasted seven minutes as Nkumbu levelled matters thanks to a Howard Kunda goal.

In the 86th minute, Stain Illunga won the match for Nkumbu when he struck a free – kick past Scaw keeper Teddy Chibuye who had a slight touch of the ball before it went into the net.

In the match between Young Rangers and Antelope, the home side got their goal from Lawrence Musonda while Isaac Chitangu scored for the Luanshya side to end the game 1 – 1. Young Rangers then lost 4-3 on penalties. In other matches, Division One side Chingola Leopards had no problem beating Division Four side Mary Begg Warriors 4-1 in an early kick off at Musa Kasonka Stadium. At the Independence Stadium in Kalulushi, Andrew Kashindi scored a brace while Joel Kambone scored a goal for Division One side Roan United who were too strong for Division Three side Gourocks Community.

Kalulushi Modern Stars took to the field at 15:00hrs where they managed a narrow win over Division Four side Fibunde Hotspurs from Masaiti thanks to Robbie Chifyalwa’s goal.

Young Nkana also progressed to the quarterfinals after a 3 – 1 win over Division Two side Neelkanth in a match played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe while Division One side Zambezi Portland needed penalties to beat Division Two side Chimwemwe Chiefs 5-3 after playing to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
