THE United Church of Zambia (UCZ) has dispelled social media reports to the effect that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has threatened to seize its Synod offices in Lusaka.
Rodgers Ng’ambi, the UCZ administrative general secretary has stated that at no time had the ACC investigative officers visited the church premises located at Plot Number 8 along Mosi Oa-Tunya Road in Woodlands and that the social media report should be dismissed as false.
Mr Ng’ambi said it was not true that the ACC had visited the UCZ property neither was there an inquiry on the source of funding for the construction of the building from any state agents.
“The United Church of Zambia would like to dispel a story making rounds on social media purporting that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have threatened to seize its Synod offices located at Plot Number 8 Mosi-oa-Tunya Road in Woodlands area.”
“The UCZ wishes to inform its members and the general public that at no time did the Church receive ACC Officers Jnquiring on the source of funding and donations received towards the construction of the Synod Headquarters. The purported story is therefore, false and should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves” Mr Ng’ambi said.
He said it was the wish of the UCZ to Further to place it on record that at no point had there been a request from the ACC to have its books of accounts checked. “Our offices remain open to productive interactions between the Church and cooperating partners including the government of the Republic of Zambia. As the UCZ leadership, we would like to thank the members for their continued support towards the realization of the mandate of growing God’s kingdom on earth through the sacrifices they make,” Mr Ng’mbi said.
