Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) president, Nevers Mumba has cited the need to allow preachers to disseminate any information on matters that affect congregants in the country provided they remain in the confines of the law.

Dr. Mumba says, preachers should be given the mandate and rights to bring out positive criticism on matters affecting various citizens as they are aimed at creating a better society.

He states that, in case preachers are found to have broken the law by their speech, the law will not discriminate justice and will hold them accountable regardless of the positions and status they hold.

The opposition leader has also noted that some preachers preach politics which leave congregants uncertain to identify the preacher’s wrongs in the sermons delivered prior to resonating well.

Dr. Mumba further adds that, insinuations that police actions are directives from the president instill toxic and limited politics, further disclosing that not all people can be controlled at the same time hence, democratic balance needs to be established.
