THE UPND is inspecting the implementation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to thwart plans by the opposition to frustrate the implementation of developmental programmes and avoid being a one term government, Gilbert Liswaniso has said.

Mr Liswaniso, the UPND national youth chairman said the party was alert to the fact that the opposition was keen in making sure that the ruling party did not go beyond 2026 by sabotaging all the developmental projects it is implementing.

He said the decision by the UPND secretary general, Batuke Imenda to embark on the inspection of CDF projects was timely as opposition Members of Parliament were sabotaging the projects.Mr Liswaniso said it was difficult to understand how some Members of Parliament including some from the opposition had made tangible progress in the implementation of the CDF while others had done completely nothing.“The party is pushing the opposition MPs so that they implement the manifesto of the party and there is nothing wrong with that. We are awake to the fact that the opposition would want to frustrate the implementation of developmental programmes, especially those under CDF so that the UPND should be a one-term government. We are not going to fall into their trap and that is why the secretary general has embarked on the inspection of the CDF developmental programmes,” Mr Liswaniso said.He said the Patriotic Front (PF) had been clear that it still had some people in the government system who were determined to sabotage development but vowed that the opposition party was not going to succeed.Meanwhile Mr Liswaniso has said the opposition should not cry foul each time they are in conflict with the law.He said the UPND brought back the rule of law but that does not in any way mean that people should break the law with impunity because if they do the law would always follow them.Mr Liswaniso said people like Emmanuel Mwamba who went ahead and forged the presidential signature and when they were arrested claimed that they were being harassed. He said the opposition were claiming that they were being harassed and brutalized by the police just to gain sympathy from the international community so that they may think that president Hakainde Hichilema was undemocratic.
